About First Light Equine Therapy
Nestled in the quiet countryside of Salem Lakes, Wisconsin, our horses are proudly housed at Diettrich Farm — a peaceful setting where healing begins the moment you step onto the land. Surrounded by open skies, nature, and the steady presence of horses, our environment offers something many people haven’t experienced in a long time: stillness.
What We Do
We provide equine-assisted therapy and growth experiences for veterans and at-risk youth in a safe, structured, and peaceful environment. Grounded in the EAGALA model, our sessions take place on the ground alongside our horses, where participants engage in guided activities designed to build emotional awareness, confidence, communication skills, and resilience. Horses respond with honesty and without judgment, creating powerful moments of insight and personal breakthrough that traditional settings often cannot replicate.

We are a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving those who have served and supporting young individuals navigating difficult seasons of life. Our team includes trained facilitators and experienced horse professionals who believe healing happens best in natural, grounded spaces. Through our partnership at Dietrich Farm, we are able to offer a calm, thoughtfully maintained setting where growth feels both safe and possible.
